There is 2 hands in baccarat: The banker hand and baccarat player hand. You can bet on either 1, and if the baccarat hand you bet on wins, you will receive an even money payoff. There is one other Baccarat bet you can make, called the baccarat tie bet.  If you make this tie bet and the 2 hands tie, you will receive an 8:1 payoff. Ties.

Each baccarat hand receives 2 cards at the beginning. the baccarat dealers will draw additional card according to the basic rules. The hand closest to a value of nine wins the game.

Jacks, 10s, kings and queens all have a value of zero. The ace through nine cards have values of 1 to 9. To determine the card value of each hand, you simply add the baccarat cards. If the total is over ten, the first digit is ignored. So an 6 and a 8, when added up, would normally equal 14, but in online baccarat, we disregard the first digit, and instead end up with a value of 4. Similarly, a 4 and 6 would equal 0, and a 9 and 10 would equal 9.

After all baccarat bets are down, the dealer gives 2 cards each to the banker and the player. The baccarat score of the hand is the right digit of the total of the baccarat cards. For example if the 2 cards were an 7 and 8, then the total would be 15, and the score would be a Five. The baccarat scores will always range from 0 to 9 and it is impossible to bust.

If the first 2 cards total 9, the baccarat hand is called a natural, and it automatically wins. A 2 card hand totaling 8 is also referred to as a natural hand, and it's wins automatically too, unless the baccarat hand is playing against has a natural. When both hands have a "natural", the higher natural wins  9 beating an 8. If the hands have equal value, it's a tie.

When neither baccarat hand has a natural, there is no automatic winner, and the baccarat dealers draw additional baccarat cards to determine the winning hand.

A 3 card may or may not be dealt to either or both the dealer and the player depending on the following baccarat rules:

• If either the banker or the player got a total of an 9 or a 8 they both stand.

• If the player's total is 5 or less then the player stands, otherwise the player hits.

• If the baccarat player stands, then the banker hits on a total of five or less.
